About DAN DEBENHAM:
Dan's innate ability to work with clients to achieve their visual ideas is at the root of the Lenzworks creative process. Dan possesses a unique ability to take an existing idea to a new level, and help clients develop original concepts that take them far beyond what they thought was possible. Prior to joining Lenzworks, Dan spent 7 years at ESPN hosting Scholastic Sports America and SportsCenter. He continues to work as a national on-air talent for NBC and hosts several of Lenzworks' projects.

After years on the sidelines, she began doing family history and discovered that she loved it. Her specialty is helping new family historians find success-and maybe even avoid some of the mistakes she made. Kathryn teaches Sunday classes and webinars for the BYU Family History Library. She also presents at Riverton Saturday Seminars and other family history events. Her column on family history ran in the Nauvoo Times for about a year and is still available online. In addition, she is a regular contributor to the FamilySearch blog.  She works as a technical writer and instructional designer with a focus on usability and process improvement. Besides family history, she loves uplifting music, thought-provoking books, and fresh raspberries.

UVTAGG Meeting (Utah Valley Technology and Genealogy Group) Saturday, 08 May 2021, 10:00am-Noon MDT - Free online on Facebook and Zoom
10:05-11:00 am MDT -- ANN TANNER on IMPROVING RESEARCH SKILLS FOR YOURSELF AND OTHERS WITH THE FAMILY HISTORY GUIDE

11:10-12:00 Noon MST -- CAROL HILL on THE INS AND OUTS OF FIND-A-GRAVE

DESCRIPTION OF MAIN PRESENTATION:  The Family History Guide can be likened to an iceberg - most of it may not be obvious at first glance. There are menus, pictures and instructions, but when you take time to explore the website you will find thousands of articles and videos to expand your research skills, for yourself or to help others as a Consultant. Whether you need to learn new skills or need an idea of where to look next, or you have someone who needs help with research in Albania or any other location, learn how and why The Family History Guide should be your "go-to" site. Ann Tanner and her husband, James Tanner, teach family history classes and webinars at the BYU Family History Library in Provo, Utah. They lived in Arizona for many years before moving to Provo. They recently returned from a Family History Mission to Maryland where they were microfilming old records from the Maryland State Archives for FamilySearch.

MAIN PRESENTATION by LAURIE CASTILLO -- CAM YOU ILLUSTRATE A FAMILY HISTORY WITHOUT FAMILY PHOTOS?
Yes! You can create family histories that are vibrant and appealing even when few family photos are available. All of us will need these techniques for ancestors who lived before the advent of photography in 1839. Fortunately, there are many other ways to illustrate the life and times of our ancestors. Be mindful of the ways they traveled, worshipped, gained an education, and made a living. Consider the places they lived, the climate and weather, their dress, ethnicity, talents, and skills. More than 21 ideas will be presented with accompanying resources. So many engaging items exist that can shed light on the lives of our ancestors and breathe life into the family history! You can do it!

LAURIE CASITILLO is the 1st VP of the UVTAGG, a former VP and Board Member of the Utah Genealogical Association, and a BYU Family History Library Consultant and teach for more than 27 years. She has been a professional genealogy researcher, writer, and presenter for more than 30 years and is a former DAR local and Utah State officer. Besides genealogy, she is a former Red Cross and CERT Instructor, Earthquake Preparedness Instructor, and HAM Radio Operator (KF7MGM).
