ABOUT THE MAIN PRESENTATION BY KATHRYN GRANT:
If you love family history, you probably want to help others get involved. But that can be easier said than done. Watch this presentation for ideas to help you engage others while avoiding roadblocks.
ABOUT THE CLASS TAUGHT BY KATHRYN GRANT:
"Just fix it later." "The important thing is to add names to the tree as quickly as possible." "Someone else will clean it up." This advice may be well-intended, but the truth is that cutting corners now almost always costs more in the long run. This presentation gives two examples of mistakes in Family Tree that were easy to make but hard to clean up. It also gives principles to help stop these kinds of mistakes before they're made. It takes a little more effort to be careful up front, but it saves time in the long run.
ABOUT KATHRYN GRANT:
After years on the sidelines, Kathryn began doing family history and discovered that she loved it. Her specialty is helping new family historians find success-and maybe even avoid some of the mistakes she's made. Kathryn teaches Sunday classes and webinars for the BYU Family History Library. She also presents at Riverton Saturday Seminars and other family history events. Her column on family history ran in the Nauvoo Times for about a year and is still available online. In addition, she is a regular contributor to the FamilySearch blog.
