Next meeting of the UVTAGG (Utah Valley Technology and Genealogy Group) - Saturday, 11 May 2019, 9 am to noon, at the "Red Chapel" of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4056 North Timpview Dr. (650 East), Provo, Utah 84604. This is the regular second-Saturday-of-the-month meeting and the main speaker will be Lisa ratzlaFF on LIFE'S SECOND CERTAINTY (HINT: THE FIRST ONE IS DEATH!) . What can tax records tell us other than Where a person is living and what he was worth? These valuable documents can provide a wealth of information you may not find elsewhere. Learn how to read early tax records and bring to light the secrets they reveal. Lisa Ratslaff is a FamilySearch Specialty Training Coordinator, Family History Center Instructor and Worker, Stake Temple and Family History Consultant, Family History Instructor, former Instructor and Assistant Director of Curriculum and Technology at the Utah South Area Family History Training Center in Orem, Utah. The Group has the goal of helping individuals use technology to further their family history and the meetings have something for everyone, especially Latter-day Saint Temple and Family History Consultants. The meetings are open to the public, whether members of the Group or not, and people can attend in person or online. To watch the meeting streamed live AT 9 am that morning, go to the Group's UVTAGG Facebook page or get the link from the Group's website https://www.uvtagg.org/ . To watch the class streamed live, repeat the process at the start of the class period, usually about !0:40 am. The videos remain on Facebook for free for a month. The Group sometimes teaches free online family history classes and help sessions between the regular meetings for anyone interested. Information about these and how to register will be announced at the meeting, will be in the monthly newsletter TAGGology, and will be posted on the website. Benefits of membership ($15/year) include receiving TAGGology via email, having access to the more than 400 past presentations and classes on the website, and having access to many genealogy resources through UVTAGG's membership in the Federation of Genealogical Societies. The officers are Gerhard Ruf, President; Laurie Castillo, 1st VP; Don Snow, 2nd VP; Marilyn Thomsen, Newsletter Editor; Don Engstrom, Membership Director; Rayanne Melick, Finance Officer; Bruce Merrill and Marie Andersen, Video Librarians; Eileen Phelps, Special Projects Coordinator; Carol Hill, FamilySearch Facebook Groups Coordinator, and Rick Wightman, Chris Stevenson, Brent Nelson, and Rick Klemetson, Webmasters. Several of these will be at the meeting to help with membership and check out or sell to members the inexpensive DVDs of past presentations and classes. Gift memberships and DVDs make good presents for family history-minded relatives, friends, and Temple and Family History Consultants. Volunteers who help with the organization get reduced rates for membership.
